Risk Analysis of a construction project is a fairly new way in which to identify analysis and inform on the risks associated with not only building works but future repairs and maintenance issues.

So, how does it work and what are the benefits:

  • The Design Team in a group session identify all risks associated with a construction project.
  • These risks can range from specific construction risks through to financial risks or exposure.
  • From the group session a criticality level is identified and possible mitigation attached.

The results are then published which are reviewed as the project progresses from
Design through to Construction and handover for future maintenance issues.

The benefits are the common generic Design Risk Assessment becomes a working document which forms part of project review.

The underlying principals of CDM 2007 can now clearly be achieved.
Design Teams and Principle Contractors can be seen to be discharging their duties under CDM 2007.

Sounds complex? Not at all.

Risk Assessment Workshops and Risk Registers can improve efficiency, effectiveness and overall enhance the total CDM process.

This dynamic way of working through a construction project is a useful if not vital way to move from the generic to specific.
