Construction Workers warned by HSE over killer dust 22 February 2010 The HSE has warned construction worker that they may be putting their lives in danger if they regularly cut stone, concrete or masonry. The HSE is concerned that people are unaware of the dangers, as Silica dust is responsible for the deaths of more than 500 construction workers every year. Silica dust is the second biggest cause of lung disease in workers after asbestos. Silica dust can cause lung cancer.
