HSE Launches Crackdown on Dangerous Construction Sites
10 March 2010

The HSE has announced that they have launched an inspection initiative aimed at stopping dangerous practices across the UK. The aim is to raise awareness of construction site risks and prevent injuries and deaths.

This inspection initiative will take place across the country during march 2010 and will focus on refurbishment and roofing work.

During 2008/09, 53 workers were killed and 11,264 were injured across the UK whilst working in construction.

More than 270 prohibition notices were issued last year due to dangerous working practices, mainly relating to working at height.
