Accident Prompts HSE Telehandler Warning 29 March 2010 Following a fatal accident the HSE has issued a warning for all users of telescopic variable reach trucks (known as telehandlers) of the dangers of not replacing broken windows on these vehicles. The safety notice was isued after the operator was was crushed and fatally injured by the descending boom. The side screen windows are designed as a guard to prevent operator access to the boom. It was thought that the operator in this case was leaning out of the broken window. If sidescreens are broken or mising then telehandlers must be removed from use until the screen glass has been replaced.
