The HSE and Health and Safety Laboratory (HSL) have developed a downloadable Assessment of Repetitive Tasks (ART) tool which is available on the HSE website.

This is to help businesses and organisations reduce the liklihood of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) of the upper limbs associated with repetitive tasks.

A hard copy of this tool is also available (INDG 438) online.

This tool is not for DSE assessments. The ART tool is for use to assess repetitive tasks such as production line work or regular use of hand tools.

More than 500, 000 people every year are affected by MSDs.
