Improvement in LPG Safety 27 April 2010 BSC Safety Management News report that improvements regarding liquified petroleum gas (LPG) safety are underway which will entail replacing buried metallic LPG pipework at commercial and industrial sites with polyethylene pipes. An inspection campaign is being undertaken by the HSE and local authorities to ensure compliance with the new standards. Other safety measures include the introduction of installation records for LPG users and registration of suppliers. Suppliers will be required to produce an asset register. These changes are being made as part of the Government's formal response to Lord Gill's report into the explosion at the ICL Plastic factory in Glasgow in 2004 in which nine people died and thirty three were injured. < back to 2010 news © 2010 QS Associates Ltd |
