HSE have issued a safety alert regarding the dangers of persons occupying or being trapped in commercial waste containers.

 Bulletin No: OPSTD 5-2010

There have been incidents where persons have been found alive prior to or during the contents of the bins being emptied. There has also been cases where a dead body had been found when the waste had been unloaded.

All companies producing and managing commercial waste and storage areas are to review their arrangments and procedures  as regards to selection, use and storage of bins in line with the HSE good practice guidance.
